Enabling COVID-19 vaccine delivery readiness

During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, MMGH supported WHO’s efforts to strengthen country readiness and vaccine delivery systems for the introduction of COVID-19 vaccines.

Our work focused on operational planning, technical assistance, and implementation coordination, accelerating vaccine rollout in low- and middle-income countries during a period of unprecedented complexity.

Working closely with WHO’s COVID-19 vaccine delivery team, MMGH led key technical workstreams, authored global guidance, and provided hands-on support at country and regional levels. MMGH played a critical role in translating global delivery strategies into actionable guidance and practical tools for national programs focused on service delivery, integration, and monitoring. We also contributed to global knowledge sharing by documenting real-time lessons from countries and disseminating best practices.

Key Activities

Led operational planning workstreams, including the development of readiness assessment tools, bottleneck analysis frameworks, and deployment planning templates.

Advised national immunization programmes on delivery strategies, integration with routine immunization and primary healthcare, cold chain/logistics planning, and implementation tracking.

Synthesized country experiences and supported the documentation of delivery challenges, innovations, and adaptive strategies for global learning and future pandemic preparedness.

Outcomes

MMGH’s support helped WHO, its partners, and countries to improve delivery planning, anticipate implementation challenges, and equip countries with the tools and guidance needed to respond effectively in an evolving pandemic environment. Our contributions enabled faster decision-making, enhanced cross-country learning, and more coordinated technical support, ultimately strengthening COVID-19 vaccine delivery and improving equity in access.
