Streamlining evidence access for country-level decisions

In many countries, National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) play a critical role in shaping vaccine introduction and prioritization decisions.

However, these decisions are often constrained by fragmented, hard-to-access evidence.

To address this, WHO is developing a central knowledge repository to provide countries with clear, accessible, and actionable data across all relevant domains. MMGH is supporting the development and implementation of this tool.

MMGH is supporting WHO across all phases of this project—from the definition of evidence requirements to system design and governance. Drawing on deep experience with country-level decision-making, MMGH worked to structure and validate evidence using the Evidence to Recommendation (EtR) framework, ensuring alignment with NITAG workflows. We collaborated with Telono to design and test a user-friendly web interface and developed the operational governance structure to ensure quality, sustainability, and scalability of the tool.

Key Activities

Ícone

Identified key evidence needs for country-level vaccine decision-making, aligned with NITAG processes.

Ícone

Gathered and structured available evidence across epidemiological, clinical, economic, programmatic, and behavioral domains.

Ícone

Validated content in collaboration with WHO technical leads.

Ícone

Collaborated with Telono on the design and testing of the digital interface.

Ícone

Developed a governance model for data quality, user feedback, and long-term tool maintenance.

Outcomes

The repository is designed to support more timely, evidence-informed decisions around vaccine adoption, prioritization, and scheduling. When fully implemented, it will help reduce mortality and morbidity from vaccine-preventable diseases by equipping national stakeholders with the information needed to identify the most impactful interventions
