Sustaining Vaccine Access Through Market Information for Access (MI4A)

The goal is to strengthen market stability and enable evidence-informed decisions by countries, global agencies, and procurement partners.

Launched by WHO in 2017, the Market Information for Access (MI4A) initiative was created to improve transparency in vaccine markets by generating real-time intelligence on supply, demand, and pricing.

MMGH has served as a core technical partner to WHO since the inception of MI4A. We helped build the initiative’s analytical foundation including supporting the development of demand and supply forecasting methods and market risk assessments. We continue to support MI4A’s evolution through market monitoring, strategic reporting, and stakeholder coordination. To date, MI4A has developed market studies for BCG, Diphtheria and Tetanus, HPV, Meningococcal meningitis, pneumococcal conjugate and polysaccharide, respiratory syncytial virus, and typhoid vaccines and related products as well as an annual global vaccine markets report.

Outcomes

Our work has helped MI4A evolve into a trusted global reference for vaccine market health. It has informed procurement decisions, highlighted risks of supply shortages or price volatility, and enabled WHO to guide policy responses in real time—supporting sustainable and equitable vaccine access for LMICs.
