  • Focus Project
Goal
  • To develop a multi-sectoral investment case for achieving cholera control by 2030 covering immunization and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), including estimating the financial and resource requirements for the successful implementation of the roadmap.
  • To estimate the health impact and return on investment of the roadmap to support advocacy of the roadmap.
  • To assemble an advocacy package for the roadmap.
Scope
Based on the “Ending Cholera: A Global Roadmap to 2030” strategy, MMGH worked with UNICEF to define a methodology and estimate the costs and benefits of vaccine programmes and WASH interventions to control cholera. Collaborating with over thirty institutions of the Global Task Force for Cholera Control, MMGH collected input and validated the model results. Based on that data, and in conjunction with Global Health Vision, a narrative was developed to illustrate what the return on investment can be if donors are willing to fund the implementation of the Roadmap. A report was generated for the task force to use for their advocacy and fundraising efforts.
Result

The investment case was endorsed by the Global Task Force on Cholera Control and will help to promote and support more concerted efforts towards controlling cholera.
