Develop and size use cases for seasonal influenza vaccines

Client

MMGH is supporting the US CDC and WHO to validate preliminary use cases and country archetypes previously developed for seasonal influenza vaccines. MMGH is conducting staekholder surveys, interviews and workshops with global influenza experts to validate the use cases and country archetypes for seasonal influenza vaccines developed in the earlier project. These activities are also supporting the development of an analytical framework that is applicable to any influenza vaccine profile (e.g., next-generation and universal influenza vaccines). The project will help to support the full value of seasonal influenza vaccine assessment, including key market dynamics analayses and roadmaps and action plans for current and future seasonal influenza vaccine use.

Goal

To enable countries, donor agencies, development partners and manufacturers to make informed decisions on the implementation of current, and development of future seasonal influenza vaccines based on a deep understanding of the use cases and global demand for these vaccines, and potential implementation strategies to reach target populations.

Scope
MMGH supported the WHO, US CDC, and the Task Force for Global Health to develop and refine the use cases for seasonal influenza vaccines. This was done through interviews and surveys of key influenza experts and immunization stakeholders and engagements with global advisory committees for validation (e.g., WHO’s Advisory Committee on Immunization and Vaccine-related Implementation Research (IVIR-AC)). MMGH subsequently developed a methodology, including a set of validated assumptions, and estimated the maximum potential size of each use case, including use cases that explore the delivery locations used by different target populations to access seasonal influenza vaccination.
Result

The outputs will help inform WHO’s Full Value Assessment for Improved Influenza Vaccines, as well as key market dynamics assessments, through an improved understanding of the ways in which seasonal influenza vaccines are delivered and administered in different geographic settings.
